8. How is Transcendence Real?

Divine Self-Realization is uncommon, but real, and it displays physical properties that can explain changes in perception and being which have been described by mystics, theologians and folk tales for centuries. However, modern science still denies them because the narrative doesn’t fit with the dominant materialist ontology.

Ladies and gentlemen, a beautiful lecture by Dr Selen Atasoy:

In the article I present simple 4 + 2 steps in order to understand how enlightenment is absolutely real, natural phenomenon that can be observed not only from the perspective of mysticism or spirituality, but also from physics. For all the materialist fundamentalists, I suggesting taking a few deep breaths before the fury of your worldview falling apart overwhelms you with denial! For more detailed explanations and references, you can check out my other essays.

This is a view from dual-aspect monism. In some sense, I believe what physics describes are intra-psychic processes up to a certain extent, at least when it comes to gravity and black hole cosmology. This is an ontological shift from the usual perspective that has far reaching implications. Let’s start easy with some pictures.

Step 1: String, 1-dimensional vibrating wave with two opposite poles

The ouroboros or uroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a serpent eating its own tail. Clearly, this is a ubiquitous experience preserved across many ancient cultures.

Or, since we don’t really like to take myths seriously when we want to be serious, let’s take an abstraction from string theory:

Step 2: String looping up. Loop quantum gravity (C. Rovelli)

It seems like I’m just dropping big words here. I’ve already written about this ontological misconception in fundamental physics. All this quantum behaviour seems to materialist oriented physicists very strange and bizarre. But if you manage to remember that an observer is also a part of the same nature, and if you take indirect realism to be true (meaning, all we ever experience are the contents of our internal world-simulation, it is impossible to see the “true” and objective world since it a) always takes some time for the signal to travel and create a “conscious hallucination” through an electric impulse in your brain, b) stuff always depends on from where you’re looking at them and how fast are you moving.)

(The key difference between loop quantum gravity and string theory is that loop quantum gravity does not attempt to unify fundamental interactions, whereas string theory is a theoretical attempt in unifying all four fundamental interactions.)

Step 3: Enlightenment is literally a creation of a photon when two particles (particle and antiparticle) with an opposite electric charge annihilate each other

To be clear, that there is a two is a misconception coming from the fact that our bodies do live in fact in a 3+1-dimensional world where such opposites exist. In that sense, we can say that in reality (non-classical) both particles are an illusion, and they are in fact two ends of the very same wave (string). Indeed, Everrettian wavefunction monism fits the premise!

That is also how photon doesn’t have an antiparticle. It is said: Some particles, such as the photon, are their own antiparticle. However, I do think that the graviton is photon’s partner particle, but that question doesn’t relate to particle/antiparticle story, but rather supersymmetry (SUSY).

I’ve already written about the famous ancient Greek adage Know Thyself. The same essay again draws upon the topic of quantum gravity and the futility of experimentally confirming the mysterious particle called graviton. In another essay on gravitation, I claim that the graviton is an imaginary particle (therefore, not materialized) and a photon’s dual-aspect. In some sense, its partner particle on the other side of the monist coin.

I would assume that this direction would have a lot to say about Maldacena duality.

Step 4: Supersymmetry: experimentally unproven, theoretically necessary

I love beautiful thinking of Emily Noether. I’ve taken some of this from QRI.

She’s most well-known for Noether’s theorem, which states that “every differentiable symmetry of the action of a physical system has a corresponding conservation law.” In other words, when there’s an invariance (in the form of a symmetry) in the equations describing a system, there always exists a corresponding invariance (in the form of a conservation law) in the behavior of that system, and vice-versa.

Furthermore, Noether’s work helps illuminate the elegance aesthetic at the heart of physics, the idea that the laws of reality embody a remarkable conceptual beauty, and this beauty is ultimately derived from symmetry.

It is only slightly overstating the case to say that physics is the study of symmetry.”

– Nobel laureate, Philip Warren Anderson

I believe that this self-mirroring dual-aspect symmetry of the wavefunction is another reason why SUSY hasn’t been experimentally proven. Yet it seems fundamentally important and mathematically correct. The problem is not that partner particles are too heavy and that is why they haven’t been found so far. The official excuse is that we don’t have capacities to produce such amount of energy in LHC. I claim that they won’t be experimentally proven because they exist as a part of our reality which inhabits imagination. As Joscha Bach would say, we dream our own reality.

Imagination is, physically speaking, as equally important as sensory signals in each given moment. Both what is “actualised” in matter and what is “real” as intra-psychic content make the the double-headed serpent which, once it binds to its own end/beginning/other side, undergoes an important and permanent geometrical/topological transformation and annihilates its oppositions in order to create a photon.

A ray of light.

That, my friends, is what happens when one experiences enlightenment. A real, geometrical transcendence of consciousness! If you’re not in shock by now, you should be, because I’m telling you your consciousness is a real physical thing and it’s properties have impact on the way you perceive and interact with the world around you.

In case you’re worrying about size…

In the picture of a universe where nature exhibits fractal properties, size doesn’t matter – if it’s a string that we take as an abstraction or this “huge” Everettian wavefunction. What matters is that vibration is the fundamental unit. It’s not huge at all, nor small, it’s just an electromagnetic radiation that behaves like a wave, or a particle once we measure it in the “now”.

Presentism and eternalism are both parts of that same coin. Two aspects. One is physical time, and the other phenomenal. One we measure (body, matter), the other we experience (mind, imagination).

Besides that what is in the “now”, everything else – both the past and the future, exists inside of our imagination. Consciousness is real, describable, measurable and of huge evolutionary significance. My hunch is that this is quantum gravity related. In that post, I tried to elaborate how gravitation may relate to mind and directing attention.

Step 5. Experiment

I tried getting Graham Hancock’s attention on Twitter to organize an experiment at some of those ancient ceremonial places he’s studied. Simple idea is to collect hundreds of volunteers who would direct their attention towards the same goal by the power of imagination and by the power of rhythm – “hitting a drum” (collective dance) – have a direct impact on physical reality that manifests in their environment. Isn’t consciousness that simple, yet denied ancient knowledge and tool? Think of harmonic resonance.

Graham has resources and connections, but I’d also be willing to co-organize this with anyone else who is enthusiastic. Maybe this gets more attention if I manage to put all of this in a book, which is the plan.

Step 6. Read “The Cosmic Serpent”

I’ll just end with a few notes from this book because I loved it. To understand better why I’m poiting this out, you ought to understand that quantum gravity has been a mistery since many decades and bringing the mind back into reality will finally take us further.

“DNA is an aperiodic crystal that traps and transports electrons with efficiency and emits photons at ultra-weak levels.” Gravitation is weak.

DNA emits biophotons as infrared (900 nanometers) to ultraviolet (up to 200) radiation. Apparently, this is ultra-weak and highly coherent signal. So it says, “signal behaves as ultra-weak laser, a coherent source of light, that gives the sensation of bright colors, a luminescence, and impression of holographic depth.”

To sum up, DNA is a snake-shaped master of transformation that lives in water and is both extremely long and small, single and double.

Just like the cosmic serpent

Btw, for everyone on Reddit calling me some “random guy”, I’m not a guy, but randomness can still be debated.
